Dear Residents and Families,
First and foremost, Happy New Year to all residents and families from the staff and management of our three County of Elgin Homes! Although we had hoped that during 2021 we would see the end of the pandemic, COVID-19 continued to impact each of our lives in ways we never would have imagined. On behalf of the Homes, we sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support as we worked together to implement the required pandemic measures to keep everyone safe! We look forward to improvements and increased opportunities for Long-Term Care (LTC) Homes in 2022!
On December 28, 2021, the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) sent out updated direction for “Pandemic Response: Additional Measures” for LTC Homes related to current local and provincial COVID-19 activity, in particular the Omicron variant activity.
Further Enhanced Measures
To continue to ensure safety for residents and reduce the risk of COVID-19 entering and spreading in homes the interim measures put into effect on December 17, 2021 have been further enhanced. Effective December 30, 2021 at 12:01am:

Medical Services
After many years as an attending physician for Elgin Manor residents, Dr. Kenneth Morrison has announced his retirement effective October 31, 2021.
Elgin Manor and the County of Elgin Homes thank Dr. Morrison for his years of service and wish him all the best in his retirement!
On July 14, 2021, the Ministry of Long-Term Care provided Long-Term Care Homes, with information regarding changes to Surveillance Testing, Absences, Activities, Dining, Visitors and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
We are looking forward to improving our resident quality of life by being able to ease the restrictions on our visits and activities, surveillance testing and PPE (eye protection).
The changes outlined below for County of Elgin Homes will begin effective July 16, 2021.
On June 29, 2021, the Ministry of Long-Term Care provided Long-Term Care Homes with information regarding changes to visits and absences for general visitors and essential caregiver visitors that will come into effect on July 7, 2021.
We are looking forward to implementing these exciting updates and thank you for your patience as we work towards safely implementing these changes for residents, general visitors and essential caregiver visitors.
On June 2, 2021, the Ministry of Long-Term Care provided Long-Term Care Homes, with information regarding changes to visits and absences for general visitors and essential caregiver visitors that will come into effect on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
We are looking forward to implementing these exciting updates and thank you for your patience as our Homes work towards safely implementing these changes for residents, general visitors and essential caregiver visitors.
On May 21, 2021, the Ministry of Long-Term Care provided Long-Term Care Homes, with information regarding changes to outdoor visits for general visitors and essential caregiver visitors.
As you will have heard, yesterday, the government released its “Roadmap to Reopen”, a three-step plan to safely and cautiously reopen the province and gradually lift public health measures.
